Prologue
An electronic component is any basic discrete device or physical entity in an electronic system used to affect electrons or their associated fields.

An integrated circuit or monolithic integrated circuit (also referred to as an IC, a chip, or a microchip) is a set of electronic circuits on one small plate ("chip") of semiconductor material normally silicon. There are circuits that control almost everything, as simple as a temperature control in a common iron or a clock in a microwave oven. This has made a major difference in how we operate electronic items. Not only does it make electronic items simpler to use, you have preset controls for different settings.
