Noisebridge should be more than a "makerspace", Noisebridge should be a community with a social mission to bring educative and creative autonomy to as many as possible. Noisebridge has had a rough patch but they have done some good work during the recent [[Reboot]] to work toward this mission and '''it is time to attract some attention.'''

= All about that booth =

[[user:Jarrod|Jarrod]]'s plan has been 1) to pack a whole bunch of Noisebridge into a 10' x 10' space and 2) to have a good time. Within MakerFaire, [[user:Jarrod|Jarrod]] and his worker elves have been going about to do their best to create a mini Hackspace that supports the ideas and creations that others bring. Here was [[user:Jarrod|Jarrod]]'s idea:

Essentially [[user:jarrod|Jarrod]] and his worker elves have created a place where people can hack during the show and '''the ultimate exhibit is Noisebridge's community and its projects'''.

Nevertheless, the base for this space is custom furniture pieces that was made at Noisebridge, with [[user:jarrod|Jarrod]]'s love, for hacking. (When all you know is design and woodworking, every answer tends to be custom furniture). The centerpiece of this affair was a new work table with built in power outlets and a bright flashy Noisebridge logo on the top. A table that people could pull up a chair to and start working on a project. If there were other things that we should have tried to incorporate into the hacking table, let us know during MakerFaire itself or afterwards. The back of the booth has a set of rearrangeable cabinets that store tools and projects for use during the show and support and audio/video system for demonstrations and presentation during the show.

= All about that booth =

[[user:Jarrod|Jarrod]]'s plan is 1) to pack a whole bunch of Noisebridge into a 10' x 10' space and 2) to have a good time. Within MakerFaire, [[user:Jarrod|Jarrod]] and his worker elves are going to do their best to create a mini Hackspace that will support the ideas and creations that others will bring. Here is [[user:Jarrod|Jarrod]]'s idea:

Essentially [[user:jarrod|Jarrod]] and his worker elves are creating a place where people can hack during the show and '''the ultimate exhibit is Noisebridge's community and its projects'''.

Nevertheless, the base for this space is going to be some custom furniture pieces that will be made at Noisebridge, with [[user:jarrod|Jarrod]]'s love, for hacking. (When all you know is design and woodworking, every answer tends to be custom furniture). The centerpiece of this affair has been a new work table with built in power outlets and a bright flashy Noisebridge logo on the top. A table that people can pull up a chair to and start working on a project. If there were other things that we should have tried to incorporate into the hacking table, let us know during MakerFaire or afterwards. The back of the booth has a set of rearrangeable cabinets that store tools and projects for use during the show and support and audio/video system for demonstrations and presentation during the show.

This workshop, taught by Electrical Engineer, [http://www.jeremyblum.com Jeremy Blum], will focus on using the popular [http://www.cadsoftusa.com/ Eagle CAD] schematic capture and PCB design tool to design a custom printed circuit board (PCB) from scratch. Participants will learn how to create a schematic for their design, import part libraries, generate a layout, route traces, and export a PCB design. At the end of the class, participants will optionally be able to send their designs to a batch PCB fabricator so they can be manufactured (for a few dollars per board). Electronics experience is helpful but not required - all are welcome!

==What is it?==

Five Minutes of Fame (5MoF) is an adaptation of CCC's Lightning Talks. Our implementation is ten five minute talks in an hour, with a short intermission so you can get another beer.

==Why are we doing this?==

There are many reasons:
* It's great for people who are interested in what's going on at Noisebridge -- no need to sit through long lectures.
* Some people are working on projects that are not ready for a full 30 minute or hour long talk, but they want to get their ideas out. Maybe they need help, maybe they want to propose an idea to the Noisebridge community.
* Some people are shy to public speaking and want to practice without giving an "official" conference talk, which can be daunting. This is a great way to try it out, in a community of peers.
* San Francisco is the mecca for startups. If you're trying to sell your idea to someone, you need to be able to explain it in five minutes or less.
