* '''Bedlam:''' During this movement, all instruments are encouraged to play loudly and raucously. Players should play with no regard for the other instruments, and should step on each other's sounds with gusto. Wake the audience up! 5 min.

* '''Whisper:''' This movement will begin with the quietest instruments in the Orchestra.
* '''Pulse:''' Players will play on and around a slow, steady pulse, increasing in tempo during the movement, until it ends in high-speed frenzy. Give the audience a heart attack. 5 min.
The Noisebridge Orchestra is a free and open ensemble of handmade, hand-wired, and hand-coded instruments.

Throughout the movement, players are asked to play as quietly as possible, and to listen carefully to the other instruments. Lull the audience into a dreamlike state. 5 min.

* '''Pulse:''' Players will play on and around a slow, steady pulse, increasing in tempo during the movement, until it ends in high-speed frenzy. Give the audience a heart attack. 5 min.

==Intro==

The noisebridge band saw is a mixed use saw (see safety tip below) for cutting straight cuts in projects that can fit into it's short neck form. This tool doesn't preform scrolling cuts without patience and plenty of backing off to prevent the blades from twisting and breaking.

Use a blade with TPI, width,and blade material that are appropriate for your cutting material.

==The Band_Saw==
SEARS 1/3 HP 10" Bandsaw, 56-7/8" blade, 1/8 - 1/4 inches wide.
Blades have 3 descriptive dimensions and a blade material, length, width, and TPI or teeth-per-inch. Different blade materials enhance cutting at different speeds and extend the life of the blades.

http://www.toolcenter.com/BLADES_TO_SIZE.html

Note: there are a couple spare 56-1/8" blades lying about, they *DO NOT* fit the working band saw.

==Broken Blades==
If you broke a blade, replace it by counting the TPI and width and purchasing a replacement according to the specs. Cost: less than $11.00. If you have a car, drive to the Sears in Colma and buy the blade 6-pack; that is the most economical option. Lowes and Discount Builders don't sell the right sized blade.

==Blade types==
There are metal blades and wood blades for this saw. The saw is currently equipped with a wood blade. Do not try to cut metal with this blade.

==Shop Safety with the Band_Saw==
just a shop safety note regarding cutting metal in stationary tools... the shavings that come off the metal piece being cut (yes, even aluminum) are HOT. In a stationary tool that has been used on wood, there is typically a nice big thick bed of sawdust inside the tool. When the metal shavings fall into this bed of sawdust, an awesome smoldery fire can build up sight unseen inside of the tool. yay! Especially if you have a dust collection system you can get some pretty spectacular results this way.

Be aware of this phenomenon. When possible it is best to have two separate dedicated tools... and/or if one is going to be transfered over into metal service the inside should be vacuumed out first, and/or the operator should check inside the machine when they are done.
