Overview
Hooray! We're so glad you want to visit. Noisebridge is a space that has been designed since its inception to be open pretty much to anyone 24/7. We especially welcome those who like to tinker and hack on things, and those who are generally nice. On average, we do not want people looking for a halfway house to sleep in, using the space to store their items, coming here to indefinitely "borrow" or outright steal things, or being on the lookout for people to annoy. Read here for more Visitor advice on our culture and some suggestions on how to interface with it. Our collectivist Do-ocracy -style anarchy is often strange to people who are accustomed to more authoritarian structures, and many new visitors are initially confused on how things work or who they should talk to about things. You can get an excellent gist of cutting-edge happenings by reading the notes from our latest weekly meeting.

Noisebridge is located on the 3rd floor of 2169 Mission. There is a staircase up and an accessible elevator as well. The elevator can be a little persnickety but it has a bell that rings up into the space for assistance if needed. More Accessibility info available as well. Read on for ways to get into the building.

You can also check out some more info on transit and Getting Here.

How Do I Get Into 2169 Mission?
If you've never been to the space before, simply press the door bell on the right of the gate labeled "Noisebridge" with tiny text. If there's someone in the space who feels like giving a tour (most of the time, except for late at night and early morning) they may buzz you in.

If you are inside Noisebridge and want to open the gate for someone outside you can look through the handy-dandy "periscope" closed-circuit camera to see who's there. If you know them, hit the "DOOR" button on the intercom pad to buzz them in. Please take responsibility for the people you let into the space!

Otherwise, here are some cunning ways to get in.

* If you've got a valid code, you can use the payphone keypad next to the gate to let yourself in.
* There's an app for your Android device which will open the gate (almost) every time.
* SSH into Pony, and run <tt>opengate</tt>, which is an excellent wrapper for the Noisbridge API command <tt>curl -X POST http://api.noisebridge.net/gate/open</tt>.
* From inside Noisbridge, go to http://pony.noise/gate OR http://172.30.0.30/gate/
* Sadly, Gatebot doesn't work right now.

More info about doors, keys, openings, and mousetraps available here: Access_Control.

Staying In
To help facilitate excellent hacking, the membership community would like you to be vouched for while you are in the space.

As a Guest
Find a Regular or Associate Member that is physically in the space to vouch for you. When they leave, you might have to find another member to vouch for you or else you may be asked to come back another time. You might:
* ask a volunteer Noisebridge docent to introduce you to the space
* attend a Tuesday evening meeting, generally open to all visitors
* ask the teacher or coordinator of the event you're attending
* ask a friend or acquiantance of yours that's already in the space
* make a brand new friend in the space
* Go on the NB discussion mailing list or IRC chat and ask to meet a Regular or Associate Member at the space at a specific time

As an Associate Member
Noisebridge is a physical space open and welcoming to all Full Members, Associate Members, properly vouchsafed guests and new visitors, providing infrastructure and collaboration opportunities for any of the above interested in programming, hardware, crafts, science, food, robotics, art, and technology. We teach, we learn, we share. With no leaders, we have typically promoted a single overriding rule: "Be excellent to each other".<br />
<br />
Our Name: A "noise bridge" is a piece of electronic test equipment that injects noise into a system to see how it responds, so you can fix or improve it. Such a device is often used in RF electronics.<br />
Getting Here: Noisebridge is close to the 16th & Mission BART station, and the 14 Mission, 33 Stanyan, and 49 Van Ness-Mission Muni buses. The 22 Fillmore and 12 Folsom Muni buses are within a couple blocks.<br />
Do I need to be a member? Noisebridge is open to all Associate Members, properly vouchsafed guests and new visitors, however Noisebridge runs off of Full Membership dues and donations. Full Membership is $80 a month (or a $40 “starving hacker” rate) and allows you to vote at meetings. If you aren’t a Full Member but regularly use the space, please feel free to consider dropping off a few dollars in the donation bin near the entrance, or set up a regular monthly donation for a smaller amount.<br />
<br />
Meetings are every Tuesday at 8pm at the 2169 Mission space. Meetings are mostly for organizational and planning purposes although anyone who might consider getting more involved with Noisebridge is definitely encouraged to attend these.<br />
<br />
Anytime that Full Members or Associate Members are present is a good time to introduce yourself. Come on up, tell others about your interests, or ask people what projects they are working on.<br />
<br />
Where can I find out more? The wiki is at https://www.noisebridge.net. The “Noisebridge-discuss” email list (and other lists) at https://www.noisebridge.net/mailman/listinfo<br />
<br />
What can I do here? Meet techie, arty, and crafty folks, take a class, teach a class, use the power tools and electronic labs, build something out of stuff on the hack shelves, use our library, surf the web, cook up something in the kitchen, and so on.<br />
<br />
Events, workshops, classes! Every week there are lots of activities at Noisebridge, planned and otherwise. Check the wiki for upcoming events, workshops, and classes. And feel free to add your own!<br />
<br />
Noisebridge is a fairly open and permissive space for Full Members, Associate Members and properly vouchsafed guests, and the equipment (unless otherwise marked, or on a member shelf) is open for their use. Safety first! Feel free to come to Noisebridge to work and play on your project, or help others with theirs.<br />
<br />
Noisebridge has lots of space available as a community resource for properly vouchsafed individuals and organizations to use -- please use it!<br />
<br />
Can I leave my stuff here? A good response to this and similar questions can be found within our Guidelines. Noisebridge is theoretically open to the public at-large, so use your judgment when leaving valuables here. Noisebridge is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please label your boxes and other items left here with your name, email, and the date. Avoid leaving your bicycle here overnight.<br />
Full Members can leave items on their labeled member shelf for an extended period.<br />
Hooray! We're so glad you want to visit. Noisebridge is a space that has been designed since its inception to be open pretty much to anyone 24/7. We especially welcome those who like to tinker and hack on things, and those who are generally nice. On average, we don't appreciate people looking for a halfway house to sleep in, to steal or "borrow" things, to use the space for storing their items, or to be on the lookout for people to annoy.

71.135.46.2: semi up-to-date edits

Welcome to Noisebridge! We're glad you're interested in our space and we look forward to seeing you soon. Here's some advice to help you
understand what you're getting into and see if it appeals to you.

Who is welcome
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to visit Noisebridge. We ask that visitors follow our guiding rule "to be excellent to each other" in the best spirit they can; please see our access policy. New visitors can drop by anytime unannounced and do not necessarily need an invitation for a tour or for attending a scheduled event/class. It may be wise to follow our suggested advice below on the best times to visit, to ensure there are people there who can let you in.

Noisebridge is wheelchair accessible though people who use wheelchairs may need help with the heavy manual elevator doors.

Come with an open mind
Noisebridge is largely about learning and exploring, and there's lots to see and learn here! Activities at Noisebridge include hanging out, working on personal or group projects, and scheduled or improptu workshops and classes on a range of topics, from foreign languages to photography, lockpicking, woodworking, computer programming and mathematics.

Some times are better than others
We have many scheduled activities in the space, and many of us have day jobs. You can coordinate the time of your visit to ensure that you can find people to talk with (and especially to let you into the building in the first place!)

* Are you new? Wondering when to drop by? Come by any evening - you don't necessarily have to wait for a class, an event or a meeting. Any night there will generally be people hanging out, and you're welcome to just show up, to say "I'm new!" and then get a tour, or to just relax and work on your laptop until a conversation of interest comes up.
* If you're interested in particular activities, check out our schedule, posted on the main page of this site.
* If you'd like to come during unstructured time and talk with lots of people, after hours are generally best.
* If you'd prefer a quieter environment, come earlier in the day.
* If you'd like to see the anarco-syndicalist factory of how a long-living hackspace is maintaining, tag along to our [Meeting|Tuesday 8pm meeting]], where affairs are often excitingly hashed out.
* You're unlikely to find many people in the space before noon on most days.
* This is discussed in painful detail at Hours
* The people around you may not know you well, but they might love you a bit more if you fix a random thing. Even if its just cleaning plates of dishes, helping to organize the parts bins, or tidying an obviously dirty desk.

Who's in charge?
You are (with the guidance of the Membership!) Noisebridge attempts to be as leaderless and as non-hierarchical and unruly as we can get. We encourage anyone in the space to be as responsible as anyone else. If you're a new visitor, that means the Associate Member or vouchsafed guest who you first meet is as good as anyone else to ask questions of.

Our code of conduct
Our chief guiding principle is to "be excellent to one another". Please respect the other people you meet at Noisebridge and the Noisebridge space itself.
We welcome visitors because we believe in our community and want to share the things we're working on with everyone. We also have community standards.

Other people's stuff
Please try to be careful with the things you find at Noisebridge, and recognize that the things on shelves are other people's stuff.

Not "child-safe"
We have not limited what we like to explore or discuss according to anyone's notions of "appropriateness" for children. Thus, anyone entering the space can be exposed to ideas, concepts, language and items which some would consider "adult-themed". We also have some tools and materials that can be hazardous for children or adults if used improperly. Children are as welcome in the space as any other person - just be prepared for what they may encounter.

Hostile network
The network at Noisebridge - like any public network - should be regarded as potentially hostile. This means that you should assume that any unencrypted communications over the network could be (and most likely are) monitored by others. Examples of vulnerable communications include POP3/IMAP email clients, most web browsing, IRC/AIM and similar chat protocols that are often not encrypted. While no issues have come up to date, and our code of conduct opposes malicious monitoring of others, it is wise to be aware of the potential. Stick to using SSL or secure tunnels or VPNs for anything that uses a password or that you otherwise wouldn't want other people to read. If you don't know how to protect your communications with encryption, many people at Noisebridge would be glad to help you out! (It would be nice if someone would provide links to a decent guide here.)

Attempt at a Semi Decent Guide
The most secure option you have is to set up an SSH tunnel to a remote server, and then use a proxy server like Polipo to forward all your HTTP through that server. Done properly, this will encrypt all your traffic without any further worries. If you do not have SSH access to a remote server, then you can use Tor or similar to encrypt your traffic without exposing it to the Noisebridge network.

The fallback position is to ensure that as many services as possible use HTTPS by default (especially webmail) and at least have browser based solution to protect against CRSF/XSS attacks for everything else. This may happen even if the website itself is solid -- if you're on a compromised internal network, the attacker can inject content into any HTML page that you're reading.

Recommended Firefox Addons:

* Certificate Patrol: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/certificate-patrol/
* Perspectives: https://www.networknotary.org/firefox.html
* HTTPS Everywhere: https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere
* Noscript (even with "all access" it still catches many CSRF/XSS attacks): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/

Recommended Chrome Extensions:

* KB SSL Enforcer: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/flcpelgcagfhfoegekianiofphddckof
* NotScripts: https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/odjhifogjcknibkahlpidmdajjpkkcfn

Recommended General Security:

* If you use Google, two factor authentication is vastly more secure than just a password.
* Although coming up with a good password is nice, you're far more secure if you use a password manager like KeyPass or 1Password. The best password is one you don't remember.
* If someone gets their hands on the physical machine, all bets are off. Try to avoid strange USB sticks and CDs, even if they look shiny.

Membership Binder
* Invite a knowledgeable volunteer to describe membership, and the application process.
<blockquote>Being a member of Noisebridge is not like being a member of a gym or your local chess club. Anyone can come to Noisebridge to hack and learn: you don't need to be a member for that. At Noisebridge, membership is something different: it means taking responsibility and committing to help to maintain, improve, and govern Noisebridge. As a member of Noisebridge, you don't just come here to hack and learn, you actively work to improve what you see around you, help to deal with problems, and make this community better than it is today.</blockquote>
<blockquote>If you want to show your commitment to Noisebridge and the community here without becoming a capital-M-Member, consider being a Noisebridge associate. Associates pay their dues to the treasurer just like members, use the space just like members, and are valued participants in the community just like members. The difference is that associate membership doesn't involve consensus: there's no need to go through consensus to become an associate, but associates don't get to block consensus either.</blockquote>
* Read off any names from the binder for the past month. Write a check on every open application.
* Anyone eligible to join this week should
** introduce themselves,
** answer any questions members may have for them, then
** leave the area in search of gifts (traditionally beer and a lime, or cookies) for the rest of the group.
* The rest of the meeting should reach consensus on whether they may join.
* Remember to applaud new members when they return.

Financial Report
* Funds in bank
* Noisetor (See the bulletpoints at the bottom of http://noisetor.net/finances/#summary)

Consensus items
You may wish to invite a knowledgeable volunteer to repeat a brief primer on the consensus process.

Jake Sternberg proposed a change to his proposal from last week, to this:

Membership Changes
Jake proposes the following new modification to his previous membership change suggestions:

<blockquote>
A new Tier of Membership to Noisebridge shall exist, called Associate
Member. People can become Associate Members through the normal
membership process. Associate Members are not required to contribute to
Noisebridge financially, only to "contribute regularly" to Noisebridge.
Associate Members, while present, can host non-members in the space just
like Full Members. But Associate Members cannot block consensus like
Members.
</blockquote>
<blockquote>
Also the policy of Noisebridge as a space open only to Members and their
guests shall be changed to 24 hours a day instead of 23:00 to 10:00.
This means that at any time, a person who is without a live sponsor in
the space can be told that if they cannot find a new live sponsor
promptly they should pack up and come back another time, perhaps Tuesday
night.
</blockquote>

Pigeon
It was proposed to make this a new consensus item for agreement next week. Jake suggested that the first paragraf could be discussed today as a change to the text of the last propsal, with the second paragraf for next week as a substantially different proposal.

We moved on to banning Pigeon.

Monad says that Pigeon is storing luggage and stuff in the space while he goes
dumpster diving. I've find zer sleeping a lot. Zie's homeless. Ze brings all
these boxes of dumpster dived foods and stuffs the refridgerator with it. This
morning, I came in, in the freezer was a bowl that ze made last Friday. And a
bowl of rotten vegetables.

When I asked to leave, zie refused to leave, and said that no-one can make me
leave. I told zir to respect our process. Since then zie's agreed not to store
stuff, zie's going to leave at 11, but ze hasn't honored that.

I am willing to defer the proposal if he would change his attitude.

Jarrod -- around in 6.30 i attempted some lightning round negotiation. Pigeon
agreed to comply with the proposal that zie comply with the 11 o'clock deadline,
to not use Noisebridge for personal storage, and to be more careful about food
storage.

Rayc: When Pigeon was asked to leave, zie didn't leave and came back.

Jake: I think Pigeon's behaviour is why the kitchen is being sabotaged.

Pigeon: I prefer a gender neutral pronoun. I feel like a lot of this is a
scapegoating process because I aggressively brought up the issue of Dru still
being in the place. I think I have been bullied here. I have seen people turn
against me. I think the way that I was asked to leave. I've asked Rayc to
leave, and noone has done anything about that. But as soon as Monad -- as I was asked to leave. I store stuff here as many people have in the past, I've
brought food here to share with people here. I will eat the food I've cooked
to. I used to sleep here. My schedule is hard, because I dumpster dive at 9. I was taking stuff out when I was aggressively asked to leave.

I came back, in protest, because SOMEBODY has harassed me and bullied me. I
don't know what to do about that, except stay away from THAT PERSON and ignore
them. I'm doing my best.

Vaughn -- I lived in the city for a decade. There's a few people who like ot
more difficult to discuss. It's an entitlement attitude. I understand that
there's personal politics going on, but you need to actually listen to people.
It's not very excellent.

Dan -- I've known Pigeon for a year or so. He's muddied the waters with civil
see his behaviour as provoked as well as provocative.

Tom -- Every interaction I've had with you has been great. If you were asked to
leave, and you didn't, and then you came back.

Jarrod -- three behaviours said there were three behaviours that were bannable:
storing personal items, food, and not leaving. If people don't like Pigeon
using the kitchen often, it seems unfair to blame pigeon for the sabotage. Is
leaving mess in the kitchen something we would ban somebody for? He brings
diverse perspective, and sensitivity. Regarding the ask to leave process.
Pigeon was asked to leave by Rayc. Pigeon refused to leave because he was being
asked in bad faith. There's some extenuating circumstances that he has
previously experienced a bad faith attempt to leave.

Rodey -- I don't thing that anything Pigeon has done is bannable. But if somebody asks you to leave, you should leave because you get an audience at the next meeting.

Norman -- the discussion started with the kitchen. I have found a Pigeon to be a nice friendly person. You could solve a lot of this by saying that you would take all that stuff from the fridge and freezer right now.

Pigeon -- I can't do my projects without storing my food somewhere. I don't have anywhere else to put it.

Johnny Radio -- you've always been a very nice person. I don't approve of bullying. I have two quick questions -- were you told to leave in a meeting? I don't consider making food hacking, so what do you do that is hacking.

Pigeon -- I don't have enough stability in my life to learn programming etc. I
want to learn these things, but how I have been treated here. I spoke at
another collective, and they said "it would never happen here". I don't know
how to code a program.

Hannah -- Monad you said you were worried about abuse of the rules, and yet you
asked Pigeon to leave.

Martin -- I think pigeon belongs here. Monad and other people are trying to get retribution in some other way. If anyone was fucked up, it was Monad calling
the police.

Rayc -- The fact that Pigeon was asked to leave, and returned to make a shake.
And came back. And then they refused to leave. I think they are using the place
to live. I think they aren't trustworthy.

Ramone -- I don't think there's any ill intent to Pigeon. I think it's important for people to step in to moderate.

Jarrod -- hacking is taking something exists, making it better, shares with others. I think under that -- which is Mitch's definition -- Pigeon is.
Consensus items
You may wish to invite a knowledgeable volunteer to repeat a brief primer on the consensus process.

Jake proposed a change to his proposal from last week, to this:

Membership Changes
Jake proposes the following new modification to his previous membership change suggestions:

<blockquote>
But Associate Members cannot block consensus like
Members.
</blockquote>
<blockquote>
Also the policy of Noisebridge as a space open only to Members and their
guests shall be changed to 24 hours a day instead of 23:00 to 10:00.
This means that at any time, a person who is without a live sponsor in
the space can be told that if they cannot find a new live sponsor
promptly they should pack up and come back another time, perhaps Tuesday
night.
</blockquote>

There's a few people who like ot
push boundaries. I think Pigeon pushes boundaries. I like zie, but it makes it
more difficult to discuss. It's an entitlement attitude. I understand that
there's personal politics going on, but you need to actually listen to people.
It's not very excellent.

Dan -- I've known Pigeon for a year or so. He's muddied the waters with civil
disobedience. He contributes a lot. He's a real hacker. He's very frustrating.I
see his behaviour as provoked as well as provocative.

Tom -- Every interaction I've had with you has been great. If you were asked to
leaving mess in the kitchen something we would ban somebody for? He brings
diverse perspective, and sensitivity. Regarding the ask to leave process.
Pigeon was asked to leave by Rayc. Pigeon refused to leave because he was being
asked in bad faith. There's some extenuating circumstances that he has
previously experienced a bad faith attempt to leave.
And came back. And then they refused to leave. I think they are using the place
Jake proposed a change to his proposal from last week, to this:

Membership Changes
Jake proposes the following new modification to his previous membership change suggestions:

<blockquote>
But Associate Members cannot block consensus like
Members.
</blockquote>
<blockquote>
Also the policy of Noisebridge as a space open only to Members and their
guests shall be changed to 24 hours a day instead of 23:00 to 10:00.
This means that at any time, a person who is without a live sponsor in
the space can be told that if they cannot find a new live sponsor
promptly they should pack up and come back another time, perhaps Tuesday
night.
</blockquote>

There's a few people who like ot
push boundaries.

If you were asked to
leave, and you didn't, and then you came back.

Consensus Minus One
It was proposed that we ammend the last portion of Jake's proposal from consensus-minus-one to consensus-minus-two. Discussion was extensive. We agreed to consent to consensus-minus-one this week, and have further discussion of membership and membership suspension next week. That future discussion might includ an increase to consensus-minus-two, or other modifications to that process.

These are instructions for having a Noisebridge Meeting. Good luck! To start with, you'll need a moderator and a note taker. Optionally, you can pick a membership-binder-wrangler; otherwise the moderator can take care of it. You'll also need some participants. They're important.

Roles
Note-taker
* Open a text editor to take notes on the major points of the meeting, using this page as the template.
* Project the draft meeting notes and agenda in real time throughout the meeting.
* Edit the Current Consensus Items if anything is proposed for consensus next week.
* Edit the Consensus Items History if anything was reached consensus or failed to reach consensus this week.
* Post the meeting notes to this page, and email the announcement and discussion list with a short summary.
* Tell treasurer@noisebridge.net and secretary@noisebridge.net if there are new members.

Moderator
* Understand the structure of Noisebridge decision-making
* Make sure everyone gets a chance to speak.
* Speak only minimally yourself.
* Keep the meeting moving, and avoid getting bogged down.
* Identify discussion items, arrange times limits for talking about each item.
* Identify and summarize consensus, suggest things that need to be done.
* Get the membership binder and ensure that it is returned safely.

Participants
* Say your name before you talk.
* Remain on-topic, and speak as concisely as possible.
* Assist the note-taker with any links or corrections that are needed.
* Remain respectful of other participants, their time, and the consensus and moderation process.

Agenda
This is the standing agenda of a Noisebridge meeting.

Introduction and Names
* Invite a knowledgeable volunteer to explain what Noisebridge is about:
<blockquote>Noisebridge is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides a space for creation, collaboration, and learning about technology and creative projects. Noisebridge provides space, power tools, and infrastructure to help the public learn new skills and create cool things. Noisebridge continues to exist through and depends entirely on membership fees and donations. Our code of conduct is 'Be excellent to each other'."</blockquote>
* You may wish to invite a knowledgeable volunteer to give a brief primer on consensus process, or you may wish to defer this until the consensus segment of the meeting.
* Introduce any new or unusual moderation techniques that you may be using during the meeting like: direct responses, limited speaking time, orderless stack, &c.
* Round of introductions (remember, announcements come later):
** What's your name,
** are you a member,
** what do you do, and
** if you are new: how did you hear about Noisebridge?

Short Announcements
* Cool new projects? Something you'd like people to know? Say now, but keep it short!
* Any happenings at the space of which members should be made aware.

New or Stale Events
* Is there anything new happening at the space?
* Is there anything that has stopped happening at the space?
* If this is the first meeting of the month, review all the events at the space and try to weed out stale events.

* Funds in bank
* Noisetor (See the bulletpoints at the bottom of http://noisetor.net/finances/#summary)

Consensus items
You may wish to invite a knowledgeable volunteer to repeat a brief primer on the consensus process.

Proposals from last week
(Add any items which pass or are blocked to the Consensus Items History page.)

Proposals for next week
(Add any new items for consensus to the Current Consensus Items page.)

Discussion Items
About Meetings
We meet every Tuesday at 8 PM US/Pacific at 2169 Mission St., San Francisco

Every week, Noisebridge meets to discuss issues relevant to our community. The meeting is for members and non-members alike: everyone is welcome.

Agenda items tend to typically include introductions, updates on projects happening in the space, upcoming events, and active discussion of decisions that most impact both the Noisebridge space as well as its visitors. Meetings normally end with general socializing and separate discussion of any topics brought up earlier. If you have a topic that you'd like to discuss at next week's meeting, you are entirely welcome to add it to the agenda.

Meetings -- like all things -- at Noisebridge operate by consensus. If you've never witnessed consensus in action, you will probably find your first meeting much less perplexing by reviewing and getting an essential grasp of our consensus process beforehand.

* Make sure to look at meeting instructions! These contain the agenda, and plenty of tips for making things run smoothly.

At every meeting, someone takes notes so that we have some idea what's happened. Noisebridge is up! We began building Noisebridge in February 2007. Since December 2007 we've had regular Tuesday meetings, and rented our first physical space as of October 1st 2008. We quickly outgrew our first space and have been at our much larger 5,200 square-foot second location since October 1st 2009. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization as of July 2009, retroactive to October 2008.

Overview
Hooray! We're so glad you want to visit. Noisebridge is a space that has been designed since its inception to be open pretty much to anyone 24/7. We especially welcome those who like to tinker and to hack on things, and are generally nice. On average, we don't appreciate people looking for a halfway house to sleep in, to steal things, or to be on the lookout for giveaway freebies and people to annoy. Read here for more Visitor advice on our culture and some suggestions on how to interface with it. Our collectivist Do-ocracy -style anarchy is often strange to people who are accustomed to more authoritarian structures, and many new visitors are initially confused on how things work or who they should talk to about things.

Staying In
To help facilitate excellent hacking, the membership community would like someone to vouch for you.

As a New Visitor
* Ask a docent to introduce you to the space
* Attend a weekly meeting

As a Vouchsafed Guest
Ask a Regular or Associate Member currently present at the space to vouch for you. That might be:
* the coordinator or validated participant of the class or event you're planning to attend
* your friend or known acquiantance already in the space
* a brand new friend in the space

Or:
* Go on the NB discussion mailing list or IRC chat and ask if a properly identified Regular Member (e.g., Jake Sternberg) or a sponsoring Associate Member will either already be present at the space or else will go with you when you visit

Become an Associate Member
* In brief: find 4 members to sign your application, done!
* Read up on becoming an Associate Member.

Become a Regular Member
* Read up on becoming a Regular Member

About Meetings
We meet every Tuesday at 8 PM US/Pacific at 2169 Mission St., San Francisco

Every week, Noisebridge meets to discuss issues relevant to our community. The meeting is for members and non-members alike: everyone is welcome.

Agenda items tend to typically include introductions, updates on projects happening in the space and upcoming events. Meetings normally end with general socializing and in depth discussion of any topics brought up earlier. If you have a topic that you'd like to discuss at next week's meeting, please add it to the agenda.

Meetings -- like all things -- at Noisebridge operate by consensus. If you've never seen consensus in action before, you may find your first meeting much less perplexing if you read about consensus first.

* Make sure to look at meeting instructions! These contain the agenda, and plenty of tips for making things run smoothly.

* Please be aware that Regular Members may or may not decide to attend any particular meeting at their own discretion and/or as their schedules permit.

Meeting Notes
At every meeting, someone takes notes so that we have some idea what's happened. Secretaribot should do this automatically, but if there isn't a page for next week's meeting, Use the Meeting Notes Template to create a new agenda for next week.

* Previous meeting notes: Last_meeting
* Next meeting agenda: Next_meeting

Overview

Overview
Hooray! We're so glad you want to visit. Noisebridge is a space designed to be open pretty much to anyone 24/7!

* your friend or known acquiantance already in the space
* a brand new friend in the space

Or:
* Go on the NB discussion mailing list or IRC chat and ask if a Regular Member (e.g., Jake) or a sponsoring Associate Member will either already be present at the space or else will go with you when you visit

Status
Noisebridge is up! We began building Noisebridge in February 2007. Since December 2007 we've had regular Tuesday meetings, and rented our first physical space as of October 1st 2008. We quickly outgrew our first space and have been at our much larger 5,200 square-foot second location since October 1st 2009. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization as of July 2009, retroactive to October 2008.
