==What is it?==

Five Minutes of Fame (5MoF) is an adaptation of CCC's Lightning Talks. The idea is that we have ten 5 minute talks within an hour. Talks can be shorter, but not longer, than five minutes.

==When and Where does it happen?==

Third Thursday of every month at 8pm, at Noisebridge, 2169 Mission St, San Francisco.

==Why are we doing this?==

There are many reasons:
* It's great for people who are interested in what's going on at Noisebridge -- no need to sit through long lectures.
* Some people are working on projects that are not ready for a full 30 minute or hour long talk, but they want to get their ideas out. Maybe they need help, maybe they want to propose an idea to the Noisebridge community.
* Some people are shy to public speaking and want to practice without giving an "official" conference talk, which can be daunting. This is a great way to try it out, in a community of peers.
* San Francisco is the mecca for startups. If you're trying to sell your idea to someone, you need to be able to explain it in five minutes or less.

Slides should be submitted to 5mof@googlegroups.com -- Please include [5mof] in the subject line.

Slides must be in PowerPoint (.ppt) or Keynote format unless otherwise agreed upon and submitted by the Friday before 5MoF. All slides are subject to approval.

Speakers will be notified as to the status of their talks before the schedule is released. If your talk was not accepted, feel free to submit next month!

Talk schedule will be finalized and released on the Monday before 5MoF.

Feel free to ask questions, request advice, and harass fsargent or daravinne on the [[IRC | Noisebridge IRC ]] channel.

'''Noisebridge is up!''' We began building Noisebridge in February 2007. Since December 2007 we've had regular Tuesday meetings, and rented our first physical space as of October 1st 2008. We quickly outgrew our first space and have been at our much larger 5,200 square-foot second location since October 1st 2009. <p>We're happy to host teaching and co-operative events at Noisebridge. There's no charge, though please consult and respect the many others working in the space. Here are some suggested guidelines for hosting an event at Noisebridge, whether its a short workshop, a regular hackathon, or a bigger unconference-style event.</p>

<h2>Our Physical Space</h2>
<h3>Event-Hosting Areas</h3>
<p>Noisebridge has three primary areas within our physical space for hosting an event, consisting of two classrooms and a large open conference area.</p>

<h3>Common Areas</h3>
<p>All events at our space may make use of our kitchen space and two bathrooms. Our kitchen contains a large counterspace. Our bathrooms are generally clean.</p>

<h3>Accessibility</h3>

<h2>General Guidelines</h2>

<li>It's recommended that involve at least one Noisebridge member as part of your planning to see that you avoid common pitfalls when working with Noisebridge.
