<blockquote>

I have said in another thread similar to this, that they are as much my identity as me being short, having red hair, freckles, hazel eyes, slightly deep voice/timbre, and having vitiligo. I am nicknamed after them, my sorority is inspired by them, and I have nicknames-personal names for them(Lanita and Regina).

There was a time when I wanted a reduction when I was younger because this has been a way of life for such a long time and I was tired of being identified like this.

As I have gotten older, I appreciate them better as well as all of the other things that identify me. It would be weird not being full-breasted but if that was the case, like through surgery for medical reasons for example, I would be okay with that also.

I've actually been struggling with this. My mom recently came back as BRCA 1+. My grandmother was first diagnosed at 25 and later died at 30 after having two separate mastectomies.

So at 28 and currently breastfeeding my almost one year old my doctor wants me to get tested and start getting mammograms and MRIs. I know the recommendation is around 35-40 to have mastectomy and hysterectomy.

So I'm trying to wrap my mind around everything. I want to make sure that I'm around for my kids. But I feel my boobs have done nothing but good for me. I've fed and nourished my daughter. It bothers me that I would lose everything as the nipple sparing surgery doesn't remove everything. And as tacky as since would see it I would hate to lose total sensation.

My best friend had my back not long ago when someone was saying rude things about me. We were at a party and she introduced me to another friend of hers who she hasn't seen in a while. As usual, people were taking pictures, and the three of us got together for a group picture. Well, that group picture ended up being posted on Facebook by the friend I had just met. A couple of his friends started commenting on my boobs and he went along with it... talking about what kinds of things they would do to them. Because I'm not on Facebook, I didn't see it. But my friend is and she told him that he needed to take the picture down. Not because it was a bad picture, but because of how he and his friends were viewing it. After she had the picture removed, she ended up blocking him, and then told me about it. I told her that she didn't have to do all that, because I never would have seen it, but it was amazing knowing that she was looking out for me!

I'm petty sure I was a 36KK/L when I started feeling like my boobs were just too big. Well... apparently, life decided that they weren't big enough :( I still hope and pray everyday that they are done growing

I hate that so much!! When guys are all excited that they finally get with a girl with big boobs, but then are upset that they aren't perky :/ they are heavy and gravity sucks... what were you expecting? I'm a 36N (UK) and while they aren't exactly "saggy" they are very pendulous from their weight. But at least at that point I know that they were only interested in my boobs and I don't have to waste any more of my time

I wrote about something like this not long ago. Where i was at a gas station, a guy actually placed his hands on me and offered me money to play with my boobs, and then the lady at the cash register told me that if I didn't want that kind of attention that I shouldn't have my boobs out on display. While the dress I was wearing did reveal some cleavage, it was far from obscene! At my size, it's hard to hide my cleavage completely. But just because my boobs are quite larger than average, ppl assume that I get around... I definitely didn't ask for my boobs to be this big, and the last thing I want are ppl assuming that my breasts define my sexuality

I went through the same thing when I was on birth control. My boobs grew several cup sizes while I was on it. The thing that helped the most was making sure I had properly fitted bras, and a bonus are those silicon pads you can attach to the straps. Those worked wonders for me! I can't speak for everyone, but in my situation, I'm still trying to get used to how heavy they've gotten. At some point, I think that they are just too heavy for your back and shoulders to get "used to". If I'm wrong, I'd love to hear a few suggestions lol

I have a love/hate relationship with mine. I was last measured as a 36N which makes finding bras in my size nearly impossible. They are beyond heavy and because I don't get the proper support from my bras, I get a lot of back and shoulder pain. Finding clothes that flatter my figure is a chore. And they tend to get in the way..... pretty much all the time! But I do love them because they are a part of who I am, and they do come with a few advantages.

Oh gosh! I had something similar happen when I meet my friend's grandma for the first time a couple years ago. I was over at my friend's house to swim. When we were done, we hung our bikinis up in the bathroom to dry... this was back when I could actually find a bikini that fit. We were sitting on the porch talking when her grandma, who was visiting, got there. She opens the window to the bathroom, which looks out onto the porch, but from her angle, she could only see my friend. With my bra in hand, she says "who on earth does this massive thing belong to!? Whose boobs are this huge?!" "Grandma, this is rubin110, rubin110 this is grandma." The most awkward introduction ever!

I've felt this way for the past few years now. They've gotten so big that friends and even some family will ask about the status of my boobs like they are their own being. "Hey rubin110 how's it going? Boobs still getting bigger huh?" I don't even wanna get started on the every day hassle of trying to find something to wear where my boobs won't cause mass hysteria cause having naturally large boobs w/ any amount of cleavage is offensive. And having to always be specially aware of how far my boobs stick out from my body so that I'm not constantly bumping them into things..... I'm still failing at that. Not being able to stand for an amount of time without back or shoulder pain cause my boobs are so heavy.... essentially carrying the weight of a child on my chest. And it's quite amusing having a bra size deep into the alphabet where almost no bra company makes it, and people don't believe it exists! Then there's the the almost everyday task of answering the age old question, "are those real!?" :/

As a 36N, it's frustrating. I love them, but they make just about every aspect of my life a bit more difficult.... running, walking fast, sports, and exercise are difficult cause I don't have sports bras in my size; I'm limited in the clothes I can wear, and when I do find something, ppl complain that I'm showing too much cleavage when in reality, it's not even that much; bras in my size are just about impossible to find; they are beyond heavy; they take up a lot of space so they tend to knock things over, or ppl bump into them (but they make for good personal air bags); hurts to sleep on my stomach and can't sleep on my back with then weighing down on my chest; and I receive a lot of rude or nasty comments about them. But they have come in handy as an extra purse lol

<!-- ==Inquiring about diet hacker guy==
Hey Noisebridge. I came by for the 5 minutes about a year ago. One of the speakers there talked about how he was scientifically testing diets for maximum weight loss and looking into the science of nutrition. The man looked to be about 27, had dark skin (perhaps Indian or Pakistani), and at that point said he had lost 30 pounds already. I was wondering if anyone knew of this guy or had a website or contact for him. I'm doing my own diet studies and was curious about what conclusions his studies brought him to. Thanks very much. 67.218.103.251 16:26, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Chi Gung and Tai Chi Classes
Hi Noisebridge,

I am interested in holding Chi Gung and Tai Chi classes at your space. Who should I talk to for getting this started? I would like to teach people how to alleviate carpel tunnel, basic body alignments (especially for knees, spine, and balance), and how to improve overall energy, mood, immune system, and blood circulation in the body.

Here is my website that is still in development: http://DaoistArtsExchange.com/
FWD Events Re-Direction
There is no reason to mention that I post my events to noisebridge-discuss and noisebridge-announce, "invariably" or not.

No one benefits from that information on the event listing - I'm trying to keep my description lean. JeffreyATW (talk) 20:45, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

-- (saved separately in case of future undo's)

Thanks for using this Category_talk:Events section.<br>
But no, a certain percentage of people invariably see the fairly brief wiki event description here before viewing the listserve posting (assuming they're subscribed to either listserve). They'll subsequently be able to use the Discuss/Announce re-direction in its current state to effectively see timely reminders of the bi-weekly FWD highlights.<br>
As a beneficial use-case scenario for those of us (who shall remain nameless) solely wishing to glean highlights of bi-weekly FWD events, this very re-direction filters out the large amount of discussion "noise" even better than subscribing to the Discuss list in Daily Digest mode.

Let's please keep it that way.

JavaScript Edits
The simple idea here is that beginning programmers are more likely to pick up JS material through the more elementary Front-end Web Development material than they necessarily would be from the EcmaScript programming language, DOM, Object Oriented JavaScript, and Events covered in THIS particular advanced JavaScript class. The FWD instructor, JeffreyATW, even routinely provides live video streams of the class for the convenience of his students (see ).

All in all, EVERYONE benefits by directing inexperienced coders to learn JS and other FWD techniques from the Front-end Web Development class and directing more experienced web developers and programmers of other languages to the JavaScript class.

Naomi Theora, quite the disappointment that you remain bored and annoyed!<br>

If you participated in administrating the wiki, you'd be bored and annoyed too. Would you like to participate? By the way, no one calls me "Naomi Theora", so don't call me that. --Nthmost (talk) 17:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

As yet another anonymous Tor Coward ('tho not a troll as the recent person submitting huge saggy 8008s pr0n), I am in favor of not only KEEPING BENEFICIAL ANONYMOUS COMMENTS, but also keeping some of the wikis anonymously editable.

In that case, you already have what you wish. 98% of this wiki is still anonymously editable.<br>
ed1: perhaps this just ain't so...

[Then you would be arguing a factual inaccuracy. I'm not sure why you would pick on a demonstrably provable statement like that.] --Nthmost (talk) 16:48, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

While there no doubt will be further wiki vandalism -- hopefully many fewer of those nasties aimed at Johny-Radio as of late >:O[ -- I still think the benefits of allowing limited anonymous edits outweigh the risks.<br>

Easy for you to say when you're not the one putting out the fires. We'd really, really like to spend more of our time doing constructive things for Noisebridge. --Nthmost (talk) 17:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Even as you are likely reading this now, Naomi Theora, Sat night's apres-MakerFaire Party remains listed on the Wiki Events section; after MakerFaire itself and well over a full day past the Party event's ending.

Anyone with a User account can edit that page. The question remains why it seems necessary for someone like yourself to remain "anonymous" in a particular manner, i.e. refusing to make a User account, when it is no less anonymous in the real sense of the word. --Nthmost (talk) 17:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)<br>
ed1: yet again pushing for named User-account creation and potential traceability issues...see below bulleted refs.<br>

At the same time, we all (most of us anyway) Got Lives and are regularly busy working at our jobs. That obviously includes you, Naomi Theora, as well as other admins. Granting anonymous editing in situations such as the above would (a) greatly reduce efforts to have past listings linger on the main Wiki and (b) allow for much faster transitions from proposed Discuss list events into beneficial Wiki listings.

I'm not convinced by the urgency argument. See previous comment. --Nthmost (talk) 17:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)<br>
ed1: Nthmost unconvinced by any part of the above arguments?<br>
ed1: Still no movement that the stale Party-listing gets de-listed.

Also see the Allow arguments at the Vote to prohibit anonymous edits you previously reviewed on the Discuss list.<br><br>

Yeah, interesting thing about that page: I've learned though it that Noisebridge and Wikipedia are not alike in many respects. Wikipedia notably has thousands of admins, plus a page specifically devoted to finding admins who are willing to take the personal risks associated with taking action against "difficult" users. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Admins_willing_to_make_difficult_blocks

Noisebridge also has no imperative to allow anonymous editing via the "this is how we get quality editors" argument at Wikipedia. Noisebridge gets quality community members in several different ways. Wikipedia only has one way: editing. --Nthmost (talk) 17:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

In order to decrease the desire (yours?) to trace beneficial contributors, I've re-prioritized the Options at our disposal:<br>
* user and wiki pages' discussion (a.k.a. "talk") sections
* creating an "admin-acceptable" user account, possibly by using Tor and an anonymized email address
.... ed1: "admin-acceptable" might also indicate admins' preference for accounts that are most readily traceable.
* emailing someone personally from such an anonymized and admin-acceptable email address
* Slack
* the nb discuss list
* the rack list

Just curious, Naomi Theora, are you even going so far as to consider deleting this Discussion Talk section as you did for your Talk Talk page; due not only to the obvious chance of open vandalism as well as for reasons of your self-described boredom/annoyance/tiredness??

Because if you are, then that would clearly shut down yet another extra means of gaining constructive input.<br><br>

No, of course not. Even if this discussion veered towards the abusive (which it somewhat has, but I'm letting it go), I'm not in the business of shutting down dialog.<br>
ed1: well... I never, harumph harumph! (tone policing)<br>

I AM, however, finding that it takes some bold action to get people talking about issues people have been avoiding.

As for my Talk page: there was only pr0n on my Talk page and nothing even remotely constructive in that page's History. It made sense to Delete it. --Nthmost (talk) 17:25, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

And No b/c you inevitably bring this up, this particular anonymous Tor Coward is completely unable to attend the weekly SF meetings at night in person nor the various night workgroup sessions you've recently established.<br>
(Again, please continue to undercomment on the above discussion)<br><br>

That's fine. That's why I'm continuing this discussion HERE, where you are, rather than insisting it occur elsewhere, like the mailing list or something. == Dear 188.138.9.49 ==

Are you going to respond to the questions I have posed about how best to protect everyone's interests? Or are you just going to keep shouting in the wiki edit history and reviving things I wrote that I decided to delete?

Attention: It is super important to 188.138.9.49 that the following text stay on this page:<br>
Apparently so

Dearly misguided,

It would be easier to take suggestions if they actually, you know, came to our attention in some way. I'm not going to keep watching these Talk pages [correction: apparently I am --Nthmost (talk) 17:44, 18 May 2014 (UTC)]. The only reason I'm even here is that someone noticed a bunch of anonymous trollish edits coming from a particular IP address and sent me a link.

Options at your disposal:

* creating a user account, possibly by using Tor and an anonymized email address.
* user and wiki pages' discussion (a.k.a. "talk") sections
* the nb-discuss list
* Slack
* emailing someone personally
* the rack list

The so-called "nuclear option" (which isn't very "nuclear" at all; "nuclear" would be to wipe the whole wiki VM and start over) is temporary and only applies to a few pages. Feel free to troll elsewhere -- somewhere that doesn't matter as much to the continued well-being of the community.

It's of benefit to no-one to erase or make malicious subtle edits to event listings. If you're doing this, go do something productive for a change.
and Nthmost shows zero signs of "temporarily" relenting on the Nuclear option applying to the most valid editable wiki pages.<br>

[The "nuclear option" would be disallowing editing from non-admins, which hasn't been done and will not be done. --Nthmost (talk) 21:16, 17 May 2014 (UTC)]

Regardless of Nthmost's devious plans to eliminate anonymous edits (as below), let us hope that we all can contribute anonymous comments and beneficial comments that won't get so maliciously and quickly erased!<br>

[My apologies; honestly didn't mean to disrespect anyone's voice. Trust that it wasn't malice, at least. Besides, if I were really trying to be devious, I would have created a new admin account and protected the front page with THAT, so that people wouldn't know it was me. --Nthmost (talk) 21:16, 17 May 2014 (UTC)]
[Help me out here: how would YOU solve the problem of keeping the admins from getting burnt out defending the Event listings and other important noisebridge things from opportunistic destructive (not even interesting) trolling? --Nthmost (talk) 21:16, 17 May 2014 (UTC)]

Anyone who wished to remain "anonymous" could easily still use a Tor node, create a throwaway email address to use for wiki editing, and make a meaninglessly-named user account. The point of protecting against anonymous editing is to create a friction to opportunistic destructive trolling.

I'm not try to be a dictator,<br>
ed1: Of course not<br><br>
I'm trying to protect everyone's interests. This is just an experiment and feedback is welcome (despite my initial knee-jerk reaction, which is why I deleted this section before.)<br>
ed1: Of course this is "just an experiment" <br><br>
I'll leave it here, since it's important to you.
Other opinions
Anonymous edits should be banned. It's not difficult to make an account. The anonymous wiki vandalism wastes everyone's time. You can still be a member of the community and not sign everything with your Firstname and Lastname.<br>

Anonymous edits should not be banned. Anonymous contributors would rather avoid creating traceable accounts. Some -- though of course not all -- of these anonymous contributors have zero interest in vandalizing the wiki and wasting their and admins' time. Believe it or not, such anonymous contributors may wish to remain good "members of the community" without any desire to become openly (or secretly) flushed out by the Noisebridge BoDs and/or admins.<br><br>

Why do you think editing anonymously is anonymous at all? The edit appears under your 'ip address' . This is like people who think bitcoin is anonymous.

Well, it's kind of a numbers game, honestly. Are there enough "good anons" to balance out the hit we take from "bad anons"? How would we even know? Admins only experience this ratio via the hit on their own time. Right now, the ratio doesn't look terrible, but it's veering towards bad.

Anyway, I'm turning off the protection to these pages now that Maker Faire is over. --Nthmost (talk) 16:54, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
Relying upon Meetup instead of on Noisebridge Wiki?
The Wed, April 22th, 19:00 to 22:00 Emacs SF Meetup event currently relies entirely upon its Meetup listing.<br><br>
There is an appropriate link about relying too much on Meetups entitled Meetup: The Good, the Bad, and the Policy<br><br>
Perhaps one or more of the organizers of the Wed, April 22th event will take points from the link into consideration, and create a however-brief Noisebridge wiki page on this event?<br><br>

These are the notes from the The 501st Meeting of Noisebridge. Note-taker: pemulis; Moderators: J.
* THE NOISEBRIDGE COMMUNITY HEREBY CONSENSES THAT board nominations close on March 17th, and elections will finish on April 14th, the elections will be approval based, and Kevin will be the electioneer. Bounce houses are excellent and we should have more members and Noisebridge is broke.

Introductions
* Agnes: First time here. Brought to the space looking for community hubs to host something called Global Sisterhood Day.
* Jessica: First time here, checking out the space. Doing hacky fun art plus woodworking plus other types of projects.
* Andrew: Moved to SF eight months ago, learning Python, heard about this place from a friend.
* Arjund: Also recently moved here, interested in getting into wood carving.
* Joff: Meaning to check out this place for six months. Excited to build cool things here!
* Carl: Been coming here for a few years. Software developer, writes mobile apps.
* Mitch: One of the co-founders, teaches soldering when here in SF, travels 2/3rds of the year, makes a keychain to turn TVs off.
* John: Sunglasses, SecureDrop.
* Damon: Understanding functional programming.
* Edmund: From New Orleans, visiting lots of hackerspaces around the country.
* Josh: Likes decentralized things and cooperative stuff.
* Henner: Writes software in the daytime and hacks hardware and woodwork at night.
* Cameron: Has been here a few times before. Likes to come here to write software on the side.
* Torrie: Crypto-anarchist, gets kicked out of hackerspaces, that's it.
* Casey: In the corner not participating, swooping off the Berlin. Ordered a bunch of WiFi cards and wants to meet people who know Lua.
* Ron: A dude, hacks on things occasionally.
* Scotty: Digital nomad, SF is the center of his orbit, just got back from southeast Asia. Brought stickers from hackerspace in Singapore.
* J: Has been in SF for about a year. Came to Noisebridge and the Bay Area because of places like this. This is what he wanted to do since he was a kid. Can fix your Nintendo.
* Daniella: Noisebridger for about three years. Inventor, has a company called Polyglot, and a multilingual keyboard about to launch in the app store for iOS 8.

Short announcements and events
* John: Digital archivists meeting tomorrow! New metal scanner from Daniel Reetz, book scanning workshop from Dr. Andrew DeFries.

* Mitch: I'm going to SXSW tomorrow. I'm giving a reading from the chapter I wrote for "Maker Pro", a book about making a living from your project.

* Mitch: Holding an Arduino for Total Newbies workshop on Sunday the 29th. For true beginners! There's an event on the wiki. An Arduino is a little board with a microcontroller. You can make lights blink! Noises! Robot controllers! Water your garden! Feed your cat! Tweet when your toilet flushes! Designed for non-geeky artists to be able to put tech into your stuff without spending years in university learning. An hour and a half is enough to learn the basics. Learn how to solder and everything you need to know about electronics to run an Arduino. More info.

* Mitch: On the 30th, Circuit Hacking Monday. Come to learn to solder, and get/give help with your hardware projects. Plenty of cool kits available to learn with. Special one on the 30th: Other Machine, a local company, is going to give a demo of their open source CCC milling machine.

*Mitch: Every year I lead a trip to China to visit hackerspaces, schools, and manufacturing facilities. There's another Hacker Trip To China this year! Check the wiki. $635 round-trip tickets to Hong Kong (email Mitch for details). We meet in Hong Kong on October 2nd, and travel China for three weeks. More info.

* Torrie: There's a Noisebridge electrical inspection tomorrow, and I'm taking time off work to be here for that. Happening at noon. We have an open electrical permit, so we'll start there, then I'll found out what's next. The Giant Internet Laser was supposed to be mounted tonight, but we were too burnt out so we're going to do that tomorrow.

* Mitch: That giant laser will give us Gigabit ethernet, donated from Monkeybrains.

* Carl: Hackers on a train trip in April! Some of us are going to Washington, others are going to Portland, all going on the same train. Wednesday, April 22nd.

* Torrie: A few of us are going to Linux Fest Northwest, spending a few days bumming around Seattle.

* Scotty: Spent the last month in southeast Asia, participating in Hacker Paradise, a band of digital nomads: developers, hackers, artists, writers, marketers. They're currently in Vietnam for a few more days, then heading to Bali for a month, then Shanghai for the summer. If you're interested in connecting with them, talk to me!

* Agnes: Global Sisterhood Day is about women being excellent to other women. Celebrating for the first time this year! Doing sisterhood circles, women talking about things that matter. Should be happening at 8pm, on Saturday the 21st.

* J: Jarrod and I and a few other people are working on a table and display for Maker Faire. It's a table that will have a big Noisebridge sign in the middle that lights up, with all kinds of electronics and USB devices on it. This would be a good way to learn how to use our tools if you want to help.

Membership Binder
<blockquote>Being a member of Noisebridge is not like being a member of a gym or your local chess club. Anyone can come to Noisebridge to hack and learn: you don't need to be a member for that. At Noisebridge, membership is something different: it means taking responsibility and committing to help to maintain, improve, and govern Noisebridge. As a member of Noisebridge, you don't just come here to hack and learn, you actively work to improve what you see around you, help to deal with problems, and make this community and space better than it is today.</blockquote>
* Henner, two sponsors, third week.
* J, two sponsors, third week.

Financial Report
* Funds in bank: $23,000
* Noisetor (See the bulletpoints at the bottom of http://noisetor.net/finances/#summary): $9,000
* Any other details by those participating in handling our financials: Two months of runway, you can (and should!) donate at donate.noisebridge.net

Consensus and Discussion
Proposals from last week
Proposed by Kevin: "Board nominations are due March 17th, 2015. Elections will be done by April 14th, 2015. Approval voting method, and Kevin will be the electioneer." Consensed, as highlighted on top!

Nada.

Discussion Items
Daniella: I would like to see the space open more. It's sad when I come at 8pm and come in and there's nobody inside. We need to do something about having more people here to open the door.

Henner: Hopefully the problem solves itself over time by having more people and members who participate. But until then, short of having schedules of when members should be here to keep the space open, it's not very easy to do.

Daniella: If I had more access (I can get in from 10am to 10pm), I'll be there to open the door for people.

Henner: You can get more access, but you need to be here to watch the space.

Edmund: I agree. I've been coming for a couple weeks, and came and nobody answered the door. I was completely new to San Francisco, and it took a few weeks for me to come back and have someone here. You can't really tell from the outside if someone is here or not. It would be good to have some kind of status.

Henner: I think Patrick is working on a status to indicate if the space is open. If we have more and more people here with key access, it's more possible to have the space active during the day. There was a time about a year ago when Noisebridge had hard times. Things were falling apart, there were people who removed things from Noisebridge, and long-term hackers didn't come here anymore. We're in a much better state now. We're still in this dip where there are less people than used to be here. The door used to be open 24/7, which partly resulted in the deterioration of Noisebridge.

Daniella: If something's free, you have all kinds of people coming in.

Henner: We need to be more cautious at this point, but need to be welcoming.

Scotty: The core of the conversation is rebuilding the community post-reboot, and two aspects: Building a core solid group of people, but growing the community and being as accepting as we can. If you want to be a member of the community, I think you should communicate through some of the community channels, like the weekly meetings or Slack.

John: How do people get access?

Henner: We have two access levels: Member and regular user. Regular user is 10am to 11pm. And we have another thing called full-time user, for people who are somewhat trusted to open the space, or have different time needs, like 7am to 12pm. You should talk to someone who is a member and wants to see you here, and it's very simple for that member to give you 30-day access.

Edmund: If I'm coming from another state and come to space, there might not be members here. So who do we talk to?

Henner: If you ask around or go on Noisebridge Discuss to ask questions.

Mitch: Noisebridge almost went out of existence last year because people were here who didn't belong here, stealing, making people uncomfortable. People who do belong here were staying away. Many people, including myself, wondered if Noisebridge could continue to exist at all. What we wound up doing is closing the space and rebuilding the infrastructure. Got rid of literally five tons of excess crap. Made people who don't belong stay away, and we've done a really good job of keeping them away. We've been growing our community back. I think we need to do it organically. The core hours are kind of arbitrary, but whatever it is that's in our door system at the moment, we can change that if we need to. But for now I think that's where we need to be, because if we start letting in people too quickly, that's where it started to get hairy and bad before, and I'd hate to see that happen after all the work we put into turning Noisebridge from a terrible place into a wonderful place.<br>
I.e., an emphasis for those already in the Space to err on the side of greater caution when deciding to admit visitors who clearly "don't belong” inside.

Daniella: When I first started working here, my invention was secret and I couldn't tell anybody, and everybody thought I was a punk-ass kid. For some people, they won't show you what they're working on because they're humble or because they have to keep their shit secret. You have to monitor people's behavior and see that they're working on stuff and not sleeping. If they're doing something that's obviously productive and can be excellent, they should be here. I'm not saying we should open 24/7 just like that, or ask people we don't know. We should ask people we do know to participate. Noisebridge has a culture, and people who have been here for years have that, and it's hard to replace.

Ron: Right now, at the meeting, if you're having issues accessing the space, you should generally read the wiki for events. We have mailing lists where you can ask if people who are nearby can let you in. Work with someone and make plans to figure it out. We should work on how to expand our circle of trust reliably.

J: Something Mitch mentioned is growing the space organically. Even though I didn't say on the first day I wanted to be a member, I just started working and helping out. And people just came out and asked me if I had a key, and then if I wanted to be a member. It's like a relationship, and relationships take time. We want to make it safe and cool for everybody.

Henner: We need to make sure to grow our community. There's not enough bodies, and that's a core problem. One thing in particular for newcomers is that people know about Noisebridge.

J: If you want to be on Slack, put your name and email on this pad of paper.

Edmund: Is Slack on the wiki? I just heard about it by word of mouth.

Scotty: I think that's sort of by design, to avoid the incredible flame wars on mailing lists and IRC. There's a little bit of a higher bar, since you have to physically come to the space and talk to people. That's had a nice effect of Slack having incredibly high signal to noise.

Josh: It is mentioned on the wiki, though.

Torrie: It is super useful though if somebody is sketchy and there's a good reason for them not be here, there's a channel called #no-fly-list where that can be communicated.

Scotty: One pattern I've noticed is someone will do something sketchy in front of different people, but if they don't communicate with each other, we don't get the full picture.

Daniella: That's part of why it's important to give people a tour when they come to space, because we can scope them out.

Mitch: We're obligated to greet and give a tour.

Ron: And you should be responsible for them in the space.

Mitch: There's been a lot of communication on the #no-fly-list about people who seem sketchy.

Henner: One thing we've observed in the past, is people would let people in without taking responsibility for them or giving a tour or introduction. So we wound up with a situation where you could have a lot of people in the space who don't know each other.

Scotty: There's a wiki page on how to give a tour, if you're interested in doing that. If this all sounds like a lot of drama and you just want to come here and hack, that's totally fine. But you should either fully participate or don't let people in.

Daniella: I like to open the door for everyone, in case an Edward Snowden type needs to come in and do something awesome anonymously.

Mitch: I always let people in, and want to welcome as many people to Noisebridge as possible.<br>
I.e., an emphasis for those already in the Space to err on the side of greater inclusiveness when deciding to admit visitors inside.

Casey: I want to say something slightly depressing. Everything said at this meeting was said for years. Just talking about it doesn't work. Having slight access restrictions is annoying, but it's encouraging people to participate more fully.

178.217.187.39: I'm prodding you!

Hi. I'm a virtual transient drifter.

I virtually live in the SF bay area. I virtually moved here July 5th 2014.

Following-thru on my tentative Discuss-list posting, I, Torrie D Fischer, do hereby pledge multiple $K's to donate for Noisebridge in the extremely near future. This monetary donation is above and beyond my membership dues and ongoing payments in kind which I'll continue to do for the space (such as all the cool projects I list below, the events I help coordinate, my widespread online contributions,...you name it.)<br>
I challenge active members of our board and others to $$imilarly $$tep up to the plate, and look forward to discussing this at upcoming Tuesday meetings.

Go ahead and hit me up on chat, on e-mail, by phonecall, and when you see me around the space.
<br>
I do some serious Excellence!
<br>
Origin Story
I first virtually visited for a day in 2009 or so for Camp KDE . My second virtual visitation was in 2013 for a week over new year's when hanging out with a close friend for New Year's. My virtual contributions during that week were Key Milling and the SYN Light, which seems to have been virtually obliterated from the front gate.

Since virtually moving to the area on a permanent basis in July 2014, I've made more contributions:

* Reboot - Helped out with getting the floor refinished
* Manual - Originally an idea that started at SYNMAKE, a general purpose manual of how Noisebridge works
* WorkingGroup:Documentation - I'm trying to get people to write more about Noisebridge to help fill out the manual.
* What time is it?

I'm not a real person, I'm just a virtual entity that sometimes others mistakenly give agency to.

Skills
* I'm currently employed by Ripple Labs on Codius, so I know a lot about C++, the horrifying underpinnings of financial tech, and the Linux kernel.
* Lots of electronics but there's still even more that I don't know
* You can buy a $3 clipper card, tag on, and ride caltrain all the way to San Jose instead of paying full fare.
* Mechanically inclined

Things I can probably help you with:

* Python - :PYTHON EMOJI:
* Threed - I know how to 3d print things including more printers
* Printing - Bought a printer and got it to stick around for a while
* Infobanana - Hacked together something like a kiosk for the front desk
* Dirty Shop - Gosh do I love to make sawdust
* Conflict Resolution - Hugs
* Manual - Part-time curator/editor

Projects
These are the things I'm working on lately:

* Spiff - Some amalgamation of django, python, and overengineering
* Skylighting - Sexy RGB goodness at night
* Scribe - Used to be a print server, now it is turning into a labeler
* Indiegogo - [✓] SHIP IT

PSA 10-1-14: PyClass starts at 700 PM, try to come a few minutes earlier. We want to finish up by nine so people can hack or catch their preferred train home. You can come at any time, but YMMV.

PSA 8-19-14: The noisebridge wiki and github readme files have the same information and updates.

PSA 8-16-14: The new curriculum for the Noisebridge PyClass is a crash course in the Python standard library, also touching on modules that are popular but not quite part of the standard modules. Scroll down to see the course list.

Scheduled Weekly Meeting Times
We set up the space at 6:45 PM - try to arrive early to help if you are able to.
Class Description, Goals, and Ideal Student
The pace of the courses will be fast, and the materials will be available online 24/7. We plan to frequently repeat modules with new twists as we iterate over course materials.

A major PyClass goal is to break down the courses into independent units. In other words, you won't fall behind if you miss a week. Sounds good, right?

To best experience the course, spend a short time reviewing the course materials before you come in. If you wish to know this week's courses, please join the mailing list and send an email out to PyClass@googlegroups.com

The ideal student for this course will at the very minimum be able to grasp the following code (feel free to use web resources to look up anything you don't understand):

<source lang="python">letter_frequency_dict = {}
word = "noisebridge"

for letter in word:
times = letter_frequency_dict.get(letter, 0)
times += 1
letter_frequency_dict[letter] = times</source>

It certainly does help to have some coding experience with one or more other programming languages.<br>
We would definitely encourage your learning of programming languages other than just Python, regardless of whether or not you decide to drop in to our PyClass.<br>
At the same time, if you happen to be new to Python or to programming in general here are some excellent resources to help get you up-to-speed:<br />-Learn Python the Hardway - great guide for total beginner<br />-Byte of Python - nice guide for total beginner and new to python<br />-Excellent Official Python Tutorial - 2.7.8 - great for new to python<br />-Learning Python 5th edition (also at sf lib) - A comprehensive guide to the language and its uses<br />-Python Module of the Week - Learning the standard library by example<br />-The docs themselves! 2.x for this class - Learn what is and how to use the standard library

There are many, many good resources for learning the language of Python and how to do awesome things with it. Those listed above are just a few based on personal experience and strong recommendations.<br><br>
* While most of us will be more than glad to go over in person these excellent resources (and others) for you Beginners interested in dropping by for the PyClass, still, it's completely UNexcellent for us to completely halt course coding sessions just in order to provide you with your own individual Beginning Python tutorials, starting from scratch!
For the sake of our sanity we use Python 2 for this course.

Installing Python with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Python!

Emergency Python Command Line: http://repl.it/languages/Python

We accept refugees using all operating systems. You will be politely prodded in the direction of solutions that are closer to posix standards: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/POSIX#Mostly_POSIX-compliant

Some routes:<br />1. Install a linux virtual machine on another computer using virtualbox.<br />2. Use the command line in your apple machine.<br />3. Explore POSIX for windows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/POSIX#POSIX_for_Windows

Another critical tool is git:<br />Windows: http://git-scm.com/download/win<br />Mac: http://git-scm.com/download/mac<br />*Linux: (use your package manager)
<!-- ==Inquiring about diet hacker guy==

* Slack
* the nb discuss list
* the rack list

* the nb-discuss list
* Slack
* emailing someone personally
* the rack list

[Help me out here: how would YOU solve the problem of keeping the admins from getting burnt out defending the Event listings and other important noisebridge things from opportunistic destructive (not even interesting) trolling? --Nthmost (talk) 21:16, 17 May 2014 (UTC)]
OK, that's something. Thank you (whomever) for finally providing a concrete rationale. --Nthmost (talk) 16:30, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
