Gamebridge- Wednesdays 8-whenever, mostly on Discord currently

January 20th to 30th (people in boot camp will start in game jam)
Officially hosting the Global Gam Jam for 3rd year in a row. Hybrid in person and remote. Closing ceremony, hybrid but encouraged to be online. Differences:
- Theme announced day or two early, jam will be *10 days* much earlier. Either don't exhaust yourself, or 10 days of crunch and make an ambitious game jam game lol.

Lot of things we used to do that we don't now. Docent was done a couple times in the old space. Only bring back what we need. When we first discussed hours, the idea was that people would volunteer on those days. Lack of formal list of people makes the hours mysterious. Don't know what it's based on.

During game jam, where we'll have people coming in on random times, good idea to revive Docent list. When we get critical mass, that'll be ok. Otherwise we'll have a list either temporarily or ongoing. I created the Docent page for this purpose. *Shows wiki page* https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Docents Under visitors: Docent is advanced version of Greeter. All frequent participants tend to be greeters, because new people show up. Docents are volunteering to do more than just by accident. Docent idea hasn't changed, but schedule is updated.

Each week had different names, don't need to be that detailed. For Game Jam, we'd make a schedule for people. I think if we have a list and ask if they will come in, that might help. What do ppl think?

Sophia: Two things: It is similar to what we initially did. Thing number 1: it was difficult to get people to commit to show up at that time. Annoying to say every Friday is committed to this. Two: Klaus and Ronald, who are here effectively all the time. There aren't many times nobody is there, bc Klaus and Ronald are there. (They both volunteered as such)

Lxpk: That's what I imagined, thank you for the help. Instead of people 100% obligated, have multiple say they might be there. If there are 3-5 people who are likely to be there, at least one of them will. It will suffice most of the time. Especially if they have contact info, they can work it out so one of them can make it. I'll message Mark or Bernice, for example, who is coming to Gamebridge. Multiple people is better than nothing or just one person.

TJ- my exsperience when doing saturdays, was I pinged everyone and cheked who was going to be there. This got critical mass really well so that people know others will be there. I think we should help encourge others to step up, and have people be in the space

pyconaut - before covid We didn't write down who Docents were, because there was regular schedule of people. example was I'd be at Noisebridge Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday 7pm to 3am.

lxpk - Let's make that explicit, until we know certain people will be there. That coordination can happen informally

Sophia - What you mean by Docents. Is it just enough people, or specifically experienced greeters.

lxpk - Being willing to be there and likely to be there on certain days.

lxpk - If yo ulook at hours, slightly different hours bc certain people are likely to be there in the past. System for it. There's logic, but not clear.

Sophia - Hard to ocmmunicate that this isn't a full time business.

lxpk - People counter could help. Could display on wiki whether someone is at the space.

pyconaut - That's been helpful. Real world example is VHS in Vancouver. They've shown their number system, which does exaclty that. How many people, notifies on social media. If that person opens up the space, they have options to decide whether you are there or not. Press button to say you're in the space, space is now open. Don't press button if you don't want people to know. Ie. when I came at 2-3am to get something done. What people are comfortable with being Docents. Once wave settles down, I want to be a NB more, just wouldn't risk it. I have to go to noisebridge to do work, but the risk was too great.

lxpk - day by day wouldn't matter, it's just certain times.

Met up with friend, another guy, Eric, who made Chicago hackerspace. (Eric Mishoad?)

We talked to Eric, it was interesting, he talked at length how terrible it was, ppl get stabbed. I have no idea what he was talking about, compared to today. I convinced him to come over to New Noisebridge. He was converted just by coming over.

It was fine, he directed me to "Noisebridge Says" at tumblr.com . A lot of it went away in the reboot, 8 years ago. Noisebridge was tarnished among other hackerspaces.

Trashing us for stabbings etc, that's no longer a thing.

Noisebridge has passed the no-stab bar. My thoughts are incoherent. I have no opinions. How do we reach out to people who felt NB name is tarnished, and get them to come. They are cool ppl who have forsaken noisebridge, and

but there may or may not be refrences to threats and guns on twitter?

Naomi is writing a book called at least we ar not noisebridge. It would be good to talk with her as this is a good way to help with getting noisebridge improved.

lxpk - I'm rebooting ZIP, Zine in Progress, initial issue coming out during Fundraiser. Hackerspaces surviving the pandemic. Hackerspaces, where we come from, how we got here, challenges that we had to endure to survive at all. People assumed hackerspaces just died during COVID. I think that topic, and getting people who talked to Naomi to write in the zine as a draft as antidote to the PR problem.

Come out as tweets and blogs until full zIP release. Where is NB at today? Everyone to contribute little bits, until piece of content.

pyconaut - People could change. It would be hard to see if he changed or not. I know there are people who wouldn't feel comfortable with people in the space. Something I'd like having docents. That makes a lot of people feel a lot safer, if there is someone they trust.

(On a note about the ratings, this toilet is identical to the t-0019 which is really highly rated (both on and off of amazon, and by quite a few toilet reviewing groups), but gas the touchless flush addon system.)I actually recently got a T-0019 at home, and it is really nice to have a good dual flush toilet.
We have to buy the bidet seat seperate, but i think having the dual flush and the touchless will be beneficial. I will check on the bidet add ons

Cloud - Starting projects are frustrating, but they can't get funding. Personal credit card is tricky financial position. We don't really have a Treasurer, since he's hard to contact.
Cloud - I'm thinking who would be a good fit, someone who knows a lot of people, is there a way to simplify the process, to get these going.

pyconaut - a big part of this is we have money. Last time we had any discussion about how funding works was month before pandemic, when we got the money we now have. Usually been broke most of the time.

lxpk- universal issue, gathering of stories in book ties into this. I'd make zip a way for you nthomst to write draft content in the book. We edit this wiki page quarterly. Every 5mof talk would be transcribed as part of it for consistent content.

nthmost - I want to write my own book. But also wanted to do a quarterly / half year journal, demonstarate what I think is possible

== January 29th, 2021 ==

The temporary fixes held up to a few days of weather, and today provided for a break in the weather for further maintenance.

The ends of the skylight frame were screwed in to the roof using self-tapping zinc coated screws. This was for the sewing room skylight that had come loose twice and was temporarily secured with bungees.

One end of the skylight was secured with screws the same as the sewing room skylight. The other end of the frame left a larger gap, and a interim wood spacer was used along with longer screws to secure the other end. Some spray paint was used to add some level of weather resistance to the wood.

== January 26th, 2021 ==

The skylight that had blown off in the electronics room was still in place, however the one that came loose in the sewing room was found ajar, and rain was falling directly in to the room creating a small puddle. This was mopped up and the skylight was put back in place and additionally temporarily secured with bungee cords and weights until a break in the storm would allow day light access and further repair.
